Lloyds of London |

“Lloyds Market” as it is known in the industry, is not one insurance company but a collection of risk taking companies with Brokers placing business with these companies. Lloyds is some 300 years old and has recently gone through a major reorganization which prompted companies like A.M. Best to be able to rate them as a whole due to the securitization of the reserves and major investments by corporations.
When you buy a Lloyds policy it may have gone through several brokers in order to be placed with the ultimate insurance company. And although they may be only one name on the policy declarations page, it may be spread amongst numerous other companies.
If you buy a Lloyds policy remember you are dealing with companies all over the world and that can slow down the service you receive. Lloyds is one of the very few companies still writing yacht insurance in the Caribbean.
